Roberta D'Alessandro is professor of Syntax and Language Variation at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics (UiL-OTS), Department of Languages, Literature and Communication. She is affiliated to the research group Language Structure: Variation and Change. She is also PI in the ERC Project Microcontact: Language variation and change from the heritage Italian perspective.

Her research interests include syntactic variation, agreement, Italo-Romance dialectology, the syntax-phonology interface, syntactic change in contact, and language contact in migration contexts.

Microcontact. Language Variation and Change from the Italian heritage perspective is an ERC-funded research project that aims to understand language change from a syntactic microvariational perspective, by observing core syntactic aspects of Romance languages in contact.
