Yuseyrenur Yilmaz, a PhD candidate at Utrecht University, is affiliated with the International Development Studies group in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning. She holds a cum laude BA and MA in Middle Eastern Studies from Leiden University and an MA in Multilingualism and Language Acquisition from Utrecht University.
Her research focuses on migration, identity and the Turkish community, prioritising qualitative methods like interviews and storytelling to explore lived experiences. Currently, she’s involved in the RETIREWEL project, analysing the Netherlands–Turkey migration corridor within the framework of Retirement Across Countries: A Tripartite Analysis of the Welfare State Family Care Networks and the Retirement Industry.
