On his blog, historian Benjamin Thomas White explains why he publicly lists his salary scale and annual salary: "One of the things that contributes to pay inequality in academia (by gender and ethnicity) is a lack of transparency over how much we’re paid, individually." Inspired by Ben and encouraged by conversations with colleagues, I have decided do the same here. On 1 September 2019, I was appointed as Assistant Professor at salary scale 11, step 0 and I'm now at step 5 after six years.
