Yiqi is a PhD candidate in the Human Geography and Spatial Planning (SGPL), Geosciences Faculty, Utrecht University. 

His PhD project focuses on housing financialisation, landlordism, and urban governance from a comparative perspective, with particular attention to the interplay between central and local governments. This project is supervised by Dr. Daan Bossuyt, Dr. Josje Bouwmeester, and Prof. dr. Edwin Buitelaar. 

Yiqi holds an MSc in Spatial Planning and Design from Cardiff University (United Kingdom) and an MEng in Urban and Rural Planning from Chongqing University (China).  Prior to joining Utrecht University, Yiqi worked in the Research Centre of the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (Western Branch) as an urban planner.
