Wubbo Wierenga is associate professor of constitutional law at Utrecht University. His research focuses on the impact of rule-of-law principles on the conduct of public leaders and civil servants. To this end, he combines insights and research methods from constitutional law and public administration.

Wubbo received his PhD from Tilburg University in 2023 for an empirical study into the role of government lawyers. Before that, he studied law (Maastricht University), philosophy (VU Amsterdam) and obtained a post-initial master's degree at the Academy for Government Lawyers in The Hague. Before his appointment at Utrecht University, he worked as a government lawyer at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, as an advisor at Berenschot (consultancy firm) and until July 2024 as deputy secretary at the State Commission on the Rule of Law (Staatscommissie rechtsstaat).
