Wouter de Zanger is an assistant professor and postdoctoral researcher at the  Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law (Ucall) and the Willem Pompe Institute for criminal law and criminology. His research focuses on criminal law and criminal procedural law, more in particular financial and economic criminal law. He is part of a group of reseachers working on the stimulation of empirical legal studies in the Netherlands. He teaches in both bachelor's and master's courses on criminal law.

In 2018, he defended his PhD thesis on criminal confiscation. He regularly provides presentations in the Netherlands and abroad, for both academic and practice-oriented audience (police, public proecutors, criminal defence lawyers and judges).
