My background is in the quantification and simulation of long-term soil and landscape development, such as carbon cycling and erosion, using geochronology, geostatistics and process modelling. Next to that, I have also been working on geomorphological mapping using geo-AI.

In my postdoc project at Utrecht University, I will combine these two topics to develop a hybrid model for digital soil mapping, where we will introduce soil process knowledge into machine learning algorithms to produce more accurate, process-informed global soil maps.
