I learned from childhood to use my talents for society. From there, my passion has evolved to help organizations and people to work more effectively so that they achieve their goals and are happy. My motto: We can do it!
I work on my purpose with much pleasure. Amongst others in the role of Managing and Senior Consultant by supporting (inter)national client organizations in HR(D) projects. In this I use both insights from theory and practical insights as well as best business practises. Also, I like to share knowledge and experience with others as I did in the role of associate professor at the Universities of Amsterdam, and as researcher in development areas in Africa. With practitioners and organizations in my role as chair of the Dutch Organization for Recruitment, Search and Selection. A few years ago I took up the supervision of Master thesis students in Organizational Psychology (UU, VU psychology/Athena) and Human Resource Studies (UvT). Currently I am lecturer and thesis supervisor at UU.
In my roles I acquired professional leadership and project leader experience, e.g. as quality manager and manager innovation projects. In leading a team of professional consultants and psychologists. In addition to this I have professional expertise and practical experience in advising clients in the area of Leadership and strategic HR, Executive Assessment and Coaching (individuals and teams), account management and online/web product development – in international and national organizations. I am Registered Work and Organization Psychologist NIP and Registered Europsy.
My mission as a Lecturer is to instill the belief in students that they can achieve their goals. I try to do this by meeting their intellectual and emotional needs in class. By developing them as critical thinkers who also enjoy dealing with academic and practical topics in the field of organizational and social psychology. To reach this and the goals of education as set by the university I stimulate students to be able to problem-solve, to look at things from various perspectives and to work together with others in analyzing questions. To use various resources, to look from an academic point of view but also with a good eye on practical application. To evaluate critically theories and empirical studies in the scientific field but also to think about how to introduce and implement ‘best practices’ in organizations in a sound and ethical way. And most of all, to have fun in studying!
