Wanlin Huang is a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Dr. Niki Frantzeskaki and Dr. Abigail Friendly in Section Spatial Planning, Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Geosciences Faculty, Utrecht University. She obtained a BSc. degree in Urban Planning from South China Agricultural University and a MSc. degree in Sustainable & Environmental Design from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her current research focuses on evaluating the social sustainability of public/social housing and how to better apply 'social sustainability' into planning practice, policy-making, and urban governance to address housing conflicts and urban poverty issues in metropolises.
Before joining Utrecht University, Wanlin worked for 4 years in the sustainability and planning area. She took part in consultancy and research projects related to green building design, town planning, and urban design in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in China.
