Wieger Bakker is professor emeritus in Society Oriented Higher Education at the Utrecht University School of Governance for the faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (LEG). From December 2018 until December 2025 he was dean Lifelong Learning for Utrecht University and from 2017 until 2023 he was chairing the board of the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning of Utrecht University (see https://www.uu.nl/onderwijs/centre-for-academic-teaching-and-learning). Earlier he was director of studies of the Utrecht School of Governance bachelor program and coordinator of a double degree master program European governance.
Since 2020 he is extraordinary Professor Governance, Community and Cohesion at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Aruba (www.ua.aw). In 2022 he was elected for a second term as deputy director general of the Inter University Centre Dubrovnik, Croatia (www.iuc.hr).
