Thilo Behrends’ research focusses on redox transformations of metals in natural and contaminated environments and processes at the surface of minerals or microorganisms. Most of his research is processes orientated and experimentally based. Examples include:
kinetics of microbially mediated oxidation or reduction of metals
consequences of iron mineral transformations on the environmental behavior of contaminants and nutrients.
redox transformations of radionuclides in clay rich sediments.
virus and bacteria attachment to mineral surfaces.
