Silvia Terenghi is PhD Candidate at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics (UiL-OTS), Department of Languages, Literature and Communication. She works on the ERC-funded Microcontact project and her subproject is the encoding of deixis in pronouns, determiners, adjectives, and adverbs.

Silvia attended Pisa University, both as undergraduate and as MA student; her MA thesis was about long distance reflexives in Italo-Romance medieval varieties. She also studied at Scuola Normale Superiore.

Silvia's main interests concern Italian and Romance linguistics and include linguistic variation, pronominal syntax, Italian dialects and distinctive vowel length in Romance varieties.

Microcontact. Language Variation and Change from the Italian heritage perspective is an ERC-funded research project that aims to understand language change from a syntactic microvariational perspective, by observing core syntactic aspects of Romance languages in contact.
