Silvia Terenghi is Assistant Professor of Multilingualism at the Institute for Language Sciences (ILS) of Utrecht University.
Silvia received her PhD from Utrecht University (2023); her dissertation focused on the encoding of deictic information in demonstrative and pronominal forms in (Italo-)Romance varieties, and particularly how such encoding may undergo change both in time and in contact. This research was carried out within the ERC-funded Microcontact project. Before moving to Utrecht, Silvia attended Pisa University and Scuola Normale Superiore.
Silvia's main research interests concern Italian and Romance linguistics, with a focus on (morpho-)syntax, and more specifically issues pertaining to the domains of linguistic variation, language change (in contact and in diachrony alike), heritage languages, person and number features, demonstrative and pronominal forms.
