Seama Mowri is a post-doctoral researcher on the project "Evidence and Gap Map for informed decision making: Visualizing the Impact of SDGs in LMICs" funded by NWA. She completed her PhD in International development studies at Utrecht University in 2024. Her PhD was supported by the NWO-WOTRO grant and focused on women's safety in public transport infrastructures of Dhaka, Bangladesh (EQUIMOB project).
Mowri specializes in ethnographic and qualitative research. Her research interests are gender, sexual and reproductive health and rights, changing gender relationships, the problematic framing of women empowerment and how that intersects with gender roles and development. She earned her Bachelors in Economics from the University of Toronto, an MBA from IBA (DU) and is a Certified Professional in Project Management (PMP). Prior to her PhD, Mowri worked as a practitioner and as a public health researcher at BRAC (James P Grant School of Public Health).
