Before joining Utrecht University in 2023, Sjang worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University’s Institute for History. He earned his PhD from the Vossius Center for the History of Humanities and Sciences and the Institute of Physics at the University of Amsterdam in 2021. His dissertation ("History and Physics Entangled") explored the connections between the disciplines of history and physics in the nineteenth century.
Sjang has been awarded research fellowships from the Lichtenberg Group for History and Philosophy of Physics at the University of Bonn (2020–2021), the History of Science Department at the LMU Munich (2019), and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin (2018).
