Sarah van Rijn is European Specialist in Companion Animal Surgery (diplomate ECVS) at the Academic Veterinary Hospital in Utrecht. Besides that, she is head of small animal surgery.
At the Academic Veterinary Hospital, she performs surgical procedures with a focus on Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. She also does consultations, receiving new patients for examination and diagnostics, as well as seeing patients return for monitoring and follow-up care after surgeries.
She is head of small animal surgery and involved in teaching and the development of the new master's curriculum.
Sarah van Rijn is accredited to perform the Kyon total hip replacement, an artificial hip. Van Rijn: "For dogs with osteoarthritis that are in pain and lame, an artificial hip is often the only option. With this, dogs can walk and run again without pain, with a good quality of life."
Since September 2023, Sarah van Rijn has been a staff member of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine's Faculty Council.
