Sabine is a PhD candidate within Innovation Studies at the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development. She was educated in Environmental Social Studies (BSc, Utrecht University), and Governance of Sustainability (MSc, Leiden University), providing an interdisciplinary background in the study of sustainability challenges and environmental policy. Sabine's research interest lie at the interplay between policy studies, the innovation policy field, and sustainability transitions.

Within the INTRANSIT research project, Sabine will investigate policy processes related to directionality in agri-food related innovation policy and sustainability transitions. The PhD thesis will focus specifically on questions of politics, power and participation related to directionality in transitions, using a comparative perspective between The Netherlands and Norway. Sabine's project is supervised by Iris Wanzenböck and Koen Frenken
