Sierk de Jong is a junior researcher assigned to the RENJET project at the Copernicus Institute. The objective of the RENJET project is to take the first necessary steps to accelerate developments and innovations across the entire supply chain needed for this transition. The project will:

  1. Research developing regional renewable jet fuel supply chains, specifically addressing environmental and techno-economic performance of conversion technologies, resulting in roadmap for renewable jet fuel deployment in the EU;
  2. Develop new business models which generate financial resources to be able to pay reasonable premium prices for renewable jet fuels and support technology development by creating demand (leisure and business travelers), setting examples and creating new ventures;
  3. Accelerate and secure availability of certified renewable jet fuels at destinations/selected airports, and meet demand by organizing and demonstrating logistics in a supply chain.

Sierk's research activities focus on the first objective. Sierk also holds a position at SkyNRG where he is involved supply chain development objectives of the RENJET project.
