Postgraduate: Darwin College, University of Cambridge, 1980-1981

M.Phil. in Linguistics.

 

Postgraduate: University of Birmingham, part-time.

Ph.D. in English Language: "Power and Solidarity Revisited: the Acquisition and Use of Personal Pronouns in Modern English and Dutch"  supervisor:  Prof. Malcolm Coulthard

Awarded: University of Birmingham 2007.

Additional Qualifications:

Certificate in Dutch as a Foreign Language: studied part-time from 1995-2000.  Attained Basis Niveau (basic level) and Uitgebreid Niveau (advanced level). Awarding body: Nederlandse Taalunie.  AS Level also studied part-time, 2006-7. Result: Aa (300/300).

I studied to teach Dutch as a second language to adults at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, September 2019 - June 2020.  Qualification attained: Certificaat Docent NT2, Faculty of Humanities of the VU (VU-NT2) and the VU Lerarenacademie in collaboration with the LEARN! Academy of the VU University Centre for Behaviour and Movement (UCGB).
