Robert Vinkesteijn obtained his PhD in 2020 (cum laude) in Utrecht, with a historical-philosophical study on the work of Galen of Pergamum (published as a monograph by Brill in 2022, available open access here). After teaching spells at the universities of Utrecht and Leiden, he worked on a research project (2021-2023) on the history of melancholy, through a NWO-Rubicon hosted by the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin (resulting in the monograph The Language of Melancholy, forthcoming with Routledge). Since 2023 he is back in Utrecht, for a research-project on the nature and scope of philosophy and its relation to the sciences in Greco-Roman antiquity (2023-2027).
