Rengin Tarhan is a PhD researcher at the Department of International and European Law since February 2026. She conducts her PhD research under the supervision of Prof. dr. Sonja Bekker and is affiliated with the research programs RENFORCE and ERI-ELS. Within RENFORCE, she is connected to the Social Justice, Welfare, and Participation building block.

Her research focuses on Lifelong Learning (LLL) and examines which rights and facilities are needed to create an inclusive and meaningful lifelong-learning culture in the Netherlands. She combines legal-doctrinal research on Dutch, European and international law and policy with empirical research using Living Labs to understand how these frameworks operate in practice and how they can be improved. Her work contributes to interdisciplinary research on international and European law, social policy and education, and labor-market governance, with a focus on bridging legal analysis and lived experience.
