Robert Vonk (1983) is endowed professor of the history of social security. He is also a senior adviser at the Council for Public Health & Society (RVS). He studied history at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and obtained his PhD from the VU medical center in 2013 with a dissertation on the position of private health insurers in the Dutch health insurance system in the twentieth century. Between 2013 and 2020 he worked at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Social-Economic Council. Between 2021 and 2022 he also worked as a consultant for the WHO, Regional office for Europe.
Robert Vonk is a guest researcher at the Erasmus School for Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) and a board member of the Dutch-Flemish Association for Health Economics.
