Peter van Kranenburg is Assistant Professor Music Information Computing at Utrecht University (The Netherlands) and guest researcher at the KNAW Meertens Institute (Amsterdam). His research focuses on computational modelling and music. In the H2020 Polifonia-project (2021-2024), he did work on large scale analysis of European song traditions and curation of historic data on musical instruments, pipe organs specifically. At the Meertens Institute (Amsterdam) he contributed to the Database of Dutch Songs and conducted research on computational modelling of melody. As Ph.D. researcher at Utrecht University, he developed melodic similarity measures and software tools for analysis of audio recordings of religious chant. He obtained master's degrees in Electrical Engineering (2003, Delft University of Technology) and Musicology (2004, Utrecht University), with a machine-learning approach for studying musical authorship.
