Trained in public administration and law, Philip Langbroek has taught Dutch administrative law and public administration for many years and published widely on administrative law, ombudsmen and on justice and court administration. Currently, he teaches Court administration, Methodology of legal research, Legislation, Constitutional law and Administrative law.

Philip Langbroek has focused his research on court and justice  administration, and organised and directed several international comparative research projects in this field,  for example on case allocation in courts and on transnational judicial cooperation in Europe,  the Menu for Justice project on legal and judicial training in Europe. He also participated in a project on caseflow management in civil procedures, managed by Petra Pekkanen from Laaperenta University in Finland.  To date he participates in 'Handle with Care',  a research project managed by Francesco Contini from the Institute for Research of Judicial Systems in Bologna, Italy, on performance measurement in judiciaries. 

Langbroek is a member of the Montaigne Centre for Rule of Law and Administration of Justice. He contributed to the debate on Methodology of Legal Research. As an active participant in the International Association for Court Administration, he organizes seminars where professionals and academics can exchange information on (desired) research. Furthermore, Langbroek delivers guest lectures on management in court administration on a regular basis.

Next to that he is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal for Court Administration and was a co-director of the EGPA studygroup on Justice and Court Administration, he is also member of the editorial board of Utrecht Law Review, and of the Justizforschung Series of Stämpfli Verlag in Bern, Switzerland.
