Education:
After obtaining his veterinary diploma (1992, with distinction), a residency in neurology and internal medicine was started. Both were successfully completed in 1996. After passing the European exam of the ECVN (European College of Veterinary Neurology) (Bern-CH, 1996) he started after a short stay in Zimbabwe and a year as a researcher and technical advisor, with his PhD. During which time he worked as a veterinary specialist in companion animal referral practice.The subject was copper toxicosis. This research started January 2000 to 2004. January 2005 he obtained his PhD.
From 2000 until 2017, he worked part-time, as a specialist, in private referral practice while he also obtained a wide variety of university appointments: from 2000 to 2009 an unpaid research appointment, from 2010 as a university lecturer and tutor in veterinary neurology. And from 2012, this appointment changed to a clinical reader (equivalent of associate professor) and head of the neurology department. In 2019 he started at IVC Evidensia Referrals as a clinician and researcher and switched at the university to the role of associate professor at the Expertise Center for Genetics at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. At the faculty he holds the position of an associate professor.
