Oumar Barry MSc

Oumar Barry is an external PhD candidate at the Faculty of Humanities, Utrecht University. His research project, Cultural Crossroads, examines the integration and participation dynamics of West African migrants in the Netherlands, with a particular focus on the role of language, culture, and social networks.

Alongside his PhD, Oumar works as a Behavioral Strategy Consultant at Rabobank, where he focuses on diversity, inclusion, and behavioral change within organizations. He is the founder of two initiatives: ReCultureNow, a consultancy and research platform connecting leadership, culture, and inclusion to societal innovation; and the Andin Foundation, which promotes global citizenship and intercultural education between the Netherlands and West Africa.

Oumar previously served as a co-researcher in the Poort van Hoop project at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, exploring the educational experiences and integration of students with a refugee background. He was also politically active in Utrecht, advocating for equal opportunities and inclusive community development.

His work bridges academia, policy, and practice, aiming to foster meaningful connections between people, organizations, and cultures.
