Niels van Miltenburg is assistant professor of theoretical philosophy and coordinator of the bachelor of artificial intelligence.  

His research focuses on free will, agency, and the knowledge we obtain through, and need for, the performance of actions. He teaches courses on the philosophy of mind, metaphysics, epistemology, the philosophy of artificial intelligence, interdisciplinarity and and the philosophy of action.

In addition, Niels regularly contributes to public philosophy with lectures for e.g. studium generale or in podcasts.

Niels received his PhD (cum laude) from Utrecht University for his dissertation Freedom in Action, in which he defends free will against recent criticism from both brain scientists and philosophers.
