Nikae te Moller is an equine vet with a specific interest in the musculoskeletal system. She works as a post-doctoral researcher at the department of Clinical Sciences. Together with a multidisciplinairy team she works on objective gait analysis and on objective quantification of facial pain expression in horses.

In december 2019 she defended her PhD thesis "Does cartilage damage doom the joint?", with a focus on the diagnosis and impact of subtle articular cartilage defects in the equine joint. Earlier that year, with the help of a Public Engagement Seed Fund, Nikae explained the beautiful dynamics of the joint and the complexity of osteoarthritis by dancing it. She did this together with L.O.F. DanceCrew Utrecht.
