Marloes Bazelier was trained as a mathematician at Utrecht University (MSc degree). She joined the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology in 2009. Marloes obtained her PhD degree in December 2012, based on the thesis “A combinatorial approach to electronic healthcare records in pharmacoepidemiology”. This research focused on fracture risk estimation for patients with Multiple Sclerosis and for patients with Diabetes Mellitus in relation to their medication use, and utilised large electronic healthcare databases from the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark. Afterwards, she worked as a project manager and post-doctoral researcher for the CARING (CAncer Risk and INsulin analoGues) project. As of June 2016, she functions as data manager and researcher at the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology and as a pharmacoepidemiology expert at the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board. She also functions as associate editor and editorial assistant for the scientific journal 'Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety'.
