Research focus: science communication and public engagement

Mark Bos is a science communication lecturer and researcher. In his education he focuses on (public) science communication and hopes to contribute to the development of science students starting in the domain of science communication and public engagement through courses like Communicating Science with the Public. His research focuses on how visuals can aid (or hinder) science communication in various contexts. But mainly in relation to science journalism as a domain, and health and climate as topics.

In 2024, Mark started the NWA Wetenschapscommunicatie project “Hersenschimmen: Praten over Prikkels” in which he and his partners (Hersenstichting, UMU, VSC, and MedIT), explore how generative artificial intelligence can be used to aid the communication between patients, relatives, experts, and science communication professionals.
