Mark Dehlsen is a PhD candidate in the Environmental Governance group at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. With a background in political theory, sustainability policy and public administration, Mark’s interests focus on the role of theories of justice and political ideology in the development of sustainable development programs.
Research
Mark’s PhD candidacy forms part of the BEYOND GIVING project led by Dr Agni Kalfagianni. Within the BEYOND GIVING project, Mark is studying how philanthropic organisations use and are guided by theories of justice in the design of programs to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
Background
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University and a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University. Before joining the BEYOND GIVING project Mark worked for ten years as an executive in agricultural, environmental, disaster management, health and social welfare policy roles in the Australian Public Service and the Australian Embassy in Washington DC.
