I am an urban and health geographer with a background in geographic information science at the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Utrecht University, which I joined in 2013. Before my appointment at Utrecht University, I was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in the Geographic Information Science group at Heidelberg University, Germany, where I was also awarded the venia legendi (habilitation) in Human Geography in 2015. Prior to that, I was a visiting scholar at Louisiana State University, USA, and worked at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. I obtained my Ph.D. (summa cum laude) in 2009 from the University of Vienna, supported by a grant for young academics from the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
