I am an assistant professor of Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. I teach on land and real estate development and serve as the director for the master’s programme Spatial Planning. I am also a visiting professor at the School of Cities of the University of Toronto.

My research is focused on the institutional arrangements for land and real estate development. I have a keen interest in the workings and impact of contracts, public-private partnerships, and public accountability relative to city building and urban transitions. My work has been published in journals such as International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Planning Theory and Practice, Policy Sciences, and Urban Studies, and I coauthored the book Neighbourhoods for the Future: A Plea for a Social and Ecological Urbanism (trancityxvaliz).

I completed my Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Antwerp in 2015. I hold Master’s degrees in Public Administration (2011) and Spatial Planning (2010) from Radboud University Nijmegen. Previously, I worked at the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, Utrecht University’s Urban Futures Studio, and the University of Amsterdam.
