I study mixing of water masses and tracers in the ocean caused by mesoscale eddies ('swirls'). My particular focus is the impact of the ocean's bottom topography on eddy mixing. In my research I use mathematical, computational and observational methods.

Apart from doing research, I enjoy outreach activities to teach a broad audience about oceanography, climate science and the experiences of being a researcher.
