Masuma Billah

Masuma Billah is a PhD candidate at the Department of Human Geography and Planning, Utrecht University (UU), under the supervision of Prof. Ajay Bailey and Dr. Bishawjit Mallick. She is an external candidate of PhD and her research will investigate women’s mobility choices and place attachment in the phase of increasing environmental risk. She will generate evidence from climate-vulnerable areas of Bangladesh. 

Masuma is currently working for BRAC, an international nongovernmental organization founded in Bangladesh. Masuma is working as a Programme Head of the Gender Justice and Diversity Programme of BRAC. She is a trained demographer with extensive experience working in development and research organizations as a gender expert. She was employed by Save the Children, Share-net Bangladesh, Partners of Population and Development (PPD), and the Population Council in the past.

She holds a Master's degree in Population Studies (Nuffic Fellow) from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, Masters in Population Sciences from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and BSc. (Honours)-Statistics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh.
