There is no life without water, and that is true for all living organisms. My major research interest is on how plants adapt to life without water and recover normal growth when water is available again. During my MSc. and PhD I have investigted different physiological, molecular, and genomic responses to desiccation tolerance in orthodox seeds and resurrection plants. I have found that during their evolution plants developed a very powerful toolkit to protect themselves against the damages caused by water loss from their body. Currently I work on investigating another component of this toolkit which is found in the roots of many plant species, the exodermis.
