Lukas Weimann, a chemical engineer by training, obtained both his BSc and MSc from ETH Zurich. He finished his Master's studies with a 6-months research stay at MIT with Prof. Klavs F. Jensen. During this time, Lukas developed a strong interest in mathematical optimization. Today, he combines this interest with his strong background in process design and development in his research about optimization of multi-energy systems and their potential synergies with carbon capture technologies. The goal of his research is to find economically viable routes for decarbonizing the industrial sector, with a strong focus on industries with a high amount of process-related CO₂ emissions, like the cement or steel industries.

In his spare time, Lukas follows online courses in the fields of business and operations management to satisfy his broad spectrum of interests.
