Lukas Weimann, a chemical engineer by training, obtained both his BSc and MSc from ETH Zurich. He finished his Master's studies with a 6-months research stay at MIT with Prof. Klavs F. Jensen. During this time, Lukas developed a strong interest in mathematical optimization. Today, he combines this interest with his strong background in process design and development in his research about optimization of multi-energy systems and their potential synergies with carbon capture technologies. The goal of his research is to find economically viable routes for decarbonizing the industrial sector, with a strong focus on industries with a high amount of process-related CO2 emissions, like the cement or steel industries.
In his spare time, Lukas follows online courses in the fields of business and operations management to satisfy his broad spectrum of interests.
