Loes Janssen has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Develompental Psychology since 2024. As a lecturer, she is involved in het BA and MA teaching of psychology and Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
Loes Janssen is interested in adolescents' mental health and researching how environmental factors can relate to the development of mental disorders, such as depression, for some adolescents. In her research, she focuses on factors such as parent-child communication and the use of social media. To do so, Loes Janssen uses intensive longitudinal measurements (EMA/ESM, daily diary) to gain a better understanding of adolescents' and families' daily life experiences.
Loes Janssen received her PhD from the Department of Clinical Psychology at Leiden University in 2022. She continued her academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) at the University of Amsterdam.
