Lisa Demets is a post-doctoral researcher on the NWO project 'The Multilingual Dynamics of Medieval Flanders' led by prof. Bart Besamusca (more details on the project can be found on its website). She is especially interested in manuscripts and its multilingual reading and writing contexts in the county of Flanders between 1200 and 1500. Her main research interests are multilingualism, history writing, codicology, gender, literary culture and politics in the late medieval Low Countries.

 

She studied history at Ghent University where she specialised in medieval history. In 2019, she defended her Ph.D. thesis on the manuscript variation of the Excellente Cronike van Vlaenderen. She worked as a post-doctoral fellow (FWO) on multilingualism and history writing in late medieval Flanders and Brabant at Ghent University.
