Koen is a doctoral candidate at the Utrecht University School of Governance (USG). His research is part of the project AI4Intelligence within the cooperative initiative National Policelab AI (NPAI). His focus within this project is on how AI can provide a positive contribution to decisions made by legal and law enforcement professionals. To realize this, he will analyse how the previously mentioned target audience utilizes AI systems that aid in providing digital intelligence and make the evidentiary process more transparent. Specifically, he is interested in how bias in the target audience affects resulting decisions and how behavioural intervention can contribute to preventing the potentially negative effects of bias.
