As a teacher, I enjoy helping my students grow and develop, both academically and personally. Academically, I enjoy teaching students about (doing research into) effects of media and communication (see below).

In terms of personal development, I like to give attention and space to students' personal growth and the person behind the student. I do this in the courses that I teach and coordinate, but also through my various roles in the student support system. I am tutor and tutor coordinator within CIW, as well as tutor coordinator for the Faculty of Humanities. In that role, I collaborate with wellbeing trainers, study advisors, colleagues from career services and other stakeholders to give student support and personal-professional development more systematic attention in the curriculum. Currently (fall of ‘25, spring of ’26) I get to be part of a faculty-wide working group that develops a ‘learning journey’ for this for the entire faculty.
