Krista Ettlinger is a PhD researcher at Utrecht University School of Governance. Her PhD research is part of the REDRESS project – Revitalized Democracy for Resilient Societies – an NWO-funded project which takes place in collaboration with Tilburg University, Utrecht University, University of Twente, Radboud University, and the Netherlands Institute for Social Research. The REDRESS project researches how combinations of different forms of citizen participation, such as deliberation and voting, can improve representative democracy in the Netherlands.

In her PhD research, Krista focuses on the impact of democratic innovations. She investigates this from the perspective of civil servants and politicians involved in democratic innovations.
