Joël Valk MA

Joël Valk studied Comparative Arts and Media at the Free University, Amsterdam. After working in business, he started a second career in Religious Education. Because of his background as a cultural scholar, his interest in the role of the material dimension of religion in education grew. He obtained BA and MEd teaching degrees in Religious Education. With a Dudoc Alfa grant, he is now doing doctoral research on the possibilities that the material approach in religious studies has to offer for the renewal of image didactics in Religious Education in secondary schools. His supervisors are: prof. dr. Cok Bakker, and prof. dr. Birgit Meyer.
