Project
The integration of speaking skills and literature in foreign language education 01.09.2022 to 01.09.2027
General project description

In foreign language education, students must become communicatively proficient in another language. How can literature education contribute to this? This question forms the starting point of this study. This study explores how the integration of literature and speaking skills can help students become language-aware and adaptive speakers. After identifying existing practices and needs, a literature pedagogy for foreign language teaching is developed. The effect of this pedagogy will be tested in the upper grades of HAVO and VWO. This will result in validated teaching materials and proposals for improving educational practice.
