My research focus is on ethical behavior by organizations. I am studying questions like: why don’t some companies comply with the law? Is it just a question of not being motivated to comply or are there other factors at play? Perhaps employees aren’t able to comply with the law or perhaps they don’t realize the law applies to them.

This PhD position is a cooperation between Utrecht University and the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Therefore, I am also looking at the question what a regulatory agency can do to increase compliance with the law. How can employees be motivated to not just know the law, but also to act in accordance with the letter and the spirit of the law? My aim in answering these questions is to bring together social psychological research and regulatory practice.
