As a lecturer I contribute to what I consider to be the societal task of universities: to foster and strengthen independent and critical thinking among their students. The bachelor's and master's programmes of History especially offer students a useful mental training. Historical knowledge and consciousness allow students to better understand our complex world and its problems, and to give meaning to their place inside it.
