Jenneke van Ditzhuijzen (MSc, PhD) is an assistant professor of Interdisciplinary Social Science with a research focus on sexual and reproductive health. She also works (1 day a week) as a senior research associate at Amsterdam UMC location AMC, department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Jenneke is trained as an experimental psychologist, but over the years transitioned into interdisciplinary social science and public health. Research topics are unintended pregnancy & abortion, contraception, sex education, sexual violence, sex(ual) & gender diversity, in relation to mental health and wellbeing. She has experience both in and outside academia: besides her academic work she also worked for many years as a senior researcher/consultant and in mental healthcare. Jenneke is particularly active in transdisciplinary science and societal impact. She is one of the initiators of SEKSO, the Dutch-Flemish sex researchers network. She is the driving force behind the new minor ‘Sexuality in Interdisciplinary Perspective’ at Utrecht University, and advocates for mainstreaming sexual health in education. In different ways, all of these activities contribute to her mission of improving equity and wellbeing in the field of sexual and reproductive health, but also in academia in general.
