Under the Vici project “Tracing Marine Macroplastics by Unravelling the Ocean’s Multiscale Dispersion Patterns”, my research explores the forcing mechanisms affecting the transport and dispersal of macroplastics in the North Sea. Using the Parcels framework for Lagrangian modelling, I aim to trace plastic trajectories and analyse the impact of different forcing mechanisms on their motion and accumulation patterns using machine learning techniques.
