I have a background in emotion and motivation research and hold a PhD in Marketing and Consumer Behaviour from Wageningen University. In my dissertation, I demonstrated that emotions do not always drive hedonic choices; rather, when people are able to choose their situations, emotions often motivate goal-directed behavior.

I teach a variety of courses on behaviour change, At Social, Health, and Organisational Psychology (SHOP), with a focus on problem-based learning and a strong emphasis on linking scientific insights from academia to real-world challenges in industry and society.

My current research focuses on how emotions and situational choices can be leveraged to stimulate virtuous behaviours, like making healthier and more sustainable choices. In addition to my academic work, I am a project lead at Amstelring, where I explore how nature can improve both well-being and sustainability. This work allows me to bridge psychology with practical innovations. By investigating the motivational role of situations and emotions in shaping decisions, I aim to contribute to interventions and strategies that promote well-being and sustainable living.
