Jelle Lammerts van Bueren is a Dutch historian connected to Utrecht University. He completed the Research Master's program in history at this university, and also studied at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Currently, he is employed as a lecturer at Utrecht's political history section. His research interests are generally focused around the democratization processes that took place in the European political arena following the Second World War and the integration of referendum practices in the postwar democratic order. He investigates these from a historical-comparative perspective with a special interest for the French and Dutch cases.

In September 2024, he will start as a PhD-candidate within his own research project “Contesting Restrained Democracy.” This project is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) through the PhD in the Humanities competition. It will be supervised by dr. P. Corduwener and prof. dr. I. de Haan.
