Jelle Lammerts van Bueren is a Dutch historian connected to Utrecht University. He completed the Research Master's program in history at this university, and also studied at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He subsequently worked as a lecturer within the political history section at Utrecht University.
Currently, he is employed as a PhD candidate at Utrecht's political history section within his own research project “Contesting Restrained Democracy.” To this end, he researches the integration of referendum ideas and practices into the postwar Western European democratic model, with a special interest for the French, Dutch, and British cases.
This project is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) through the PhD in the Humanities competition. It is supervised by dr. P. Corduwener and prof. dr. I. de Haan.
